Geoff Marsden
Head Coach
Coach Marsden is the 6th grade PE teacher at Lake Oswego Junior High. He has a wife, Jen and three boys Mason (high school), Finn (high school) & Sawyer (middle school). Coach Marsden’s passion for swimming comes from being around or in the water from a very early age (before he was even born). He grew up near the beaches in Northern California and swam on teams starting at the age of four, through high school, college and continues to swim as much as he can for US Masters swimming or just on his own. He is hoping to get back into surfing, he just needs to get over how cold the Oregon water is. He achieved a lifelong goal a when he completed the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. He now thinks it is possible that those prisoners could have escaped. He also completed the Oregon Half IronMan last summer and hopes to eventually complete a full IronMan. Coach Marsden has coached swimming at the high school level for over 10+ years and has coached many other sports including wrestling, baseball, cross country, lacrosse, track & field, badminton and volleyball. This is his 4th year as the LO head coach and was an assistant for one year. GO LAKERS!

Erin Cealey
Assistant Coach

Coach Cealey is a Learning Specialist at Lake Oswego High School and works as a part of the Learning Support Center Team. This is Cealey’s first year at LOHS but second year as a part of the student services team of LOSD. Coach Cealey moved from Illinois to Oregon in January of 2020 to serve out her dream of servicing students with disabilities and advocating in an inclusive and progressive community. She has been just inside and outside of the classroom but enjoys helping students find their interest in the sport of swimming. This season will begin Coach Cealey’s 14th coaching season. Her coaching career includes: Head Coach of Special Olympics Aquatics for Central Illinois, Head Coach of PCHS Girl’s Swim, and Assistant Coach of PCHS Boy’s Swim. When not coaching around the water, she is an active participant in the water herself. She began swimming at a young age, Club Swim, which led to joining the high school swim team. Continuing to swim for exercise, she set goals for herself to become a triathlete. In 2019, she completed her fifth sprint triathlon, with swim being her strongest leg of the race!
If you have any questions or if swimmers need a place to study during the week, Coach Cealey opens her classroom for support seminar once per week and is available at any point during the school day. Coach Erin Cealey looks forward to meeting everyone in the pool soon! Just keep swimming!

Carolyn Hyink
Assistant Coach

Carolyn (Brown) Hyink grew up in Lake Oswego and graduated from Lake Oswego High School in 1980. Carolyn began club swimming when she was 12 and by the time she was 15, she made it to Junior Nationals. While swimming club, she also swam on the high school swim team and won Oregon State Championships in 100 Back in 1978. Carolyn also played volleyball, she was an honor student and was very active in school activities, including the many years we built the high school homecoming float in her family’s barn!! Carolyn continued to swim and play volleyball in college, and is a believer in the life long benefits of swimming.
In 2017, Carolyn retired from a 30 year career in high technology, working at Microsoft and IBM in Austin, Texas, as a software User Experience Designer. Carolyn returned to the Pacific Northwest to live near her sisters after the sudden passing of her husband. Since retiring, Carolyn has volunteered for a variety of causes such as pet therapy, horse therapy, Prescott Bluebird Recovery Project, American Red Cross, Ronald Macdonald House, and others. Carolyn is still an active masters swimmer and has been in the USMS Top 10 off and on over the years. She recently returned from swim trekking in Croatia and continues to love anything to do with the water.
